    That castle (and amazingly that actual view from the spot where the picture was taken) is one of my favourite places. I have been there many times and am always amazed at the remaining archways and stonework.

    What’s really striking about Conwy and the rest of Longshanks’ Welsh forts is how quickly they were built. 6 years in the case of Conwy. That’s the kind of time that you can only get when you are a powerful and respected absolute monarch in the middle of a serious campaign.
