INION RAN Library in Moscow — Large part of it has been demolished in a fire in 2015; Torn down completely in July 2019, although the remaining parts of the building could have been preserved; To be re-built according to the original design by the Soviet architect Yakov Belopolskiy.

    I wonder what cooler older buildings were destroyed to make a brutalist internationalist library. I’d like to see how it looked before the nondescript concrete box.

    Old Town Warsaw did it right after WW2.
