Each one of those round, windowless towers is an industrial kiln (fancy oven).
You can tell this place has been shut down for years because there are actually plants growing around the building.
Coking releases some nasty pollutants, the old coking plants were infamous for killing the greenery around them and sometimes a good distance downwind.
