The Jewel is wild. Outside of this atrium its a giant luxury mall. Not to my taste, but very Singapore.

As someone who has been lucky enough to travel through Changi Airport many times, it really is on another level. I recommend anyone who has the chance to at least pass through their airport – and stay if you can. First with (the then new) terminal 4, and now with Jewel (this), they keep outdoing themselves. And the picture doesn’t do it justice. There’s nothing you can’t do, from grocery shopping to 6 course meals, from a nap hotel to a movie theater. And enough shops to compete with the biggest malls in the world.
Don’t want to spend money? There’s something like a kilometer of walk trails through this indoor rain forest, whose waterfall changes colors at night with a light and sound show every half hour. The WiFi is free, there are free lounges everywhere, spots for working and spots for napping, and you’d find it impossible to not find a charging port / international power outlet even on the busiest of days. Take your kids to the indoor playgrounds. Take yourself to the free liquor tastings. They have it all.
All of the terminals are easily and efficiently connected, and there’s cheap, clean, regular 24 hour transport to anywhere you need to go in the city. This truly is an airport where you have a 10 hour layover and you wish it was longer.
Then you come back to the US and the stark contrast of the best airports we have to offer hits you and you feel like you just landed in a developing nation.
