Stopped here when we were in Ireland a couple years ago. Fascinating place. Damn Cromwell.
Fun fact: When the Irish government took over the site in the 1930’s, they announced that there’d be no further burials at the cemetery. Understandably, the locals didn’t take this well. As a compromise, the government agreed that everyone living in the village could register themselves and their children for burial there and then that was it. As of 2017, there were, I believe, 9 people remaining who could claim a plot.

My family was visiting Ireland, and as we were driving from Dublin to Killarney we decided to stop to get something for lunch. We went down a random road and as we drove past a hill we suddenly saw this huge fucking thing in the distance.

Out of curiosity did you check out any of the dates on those headstones? A few of them look almost new and others look like they’ve been there for hundreds of years.
