Absolutley gorgeous and grand hotel, I imagine it would still be a renowned hotel today if it survived the fire. It probably would of survived if it was built in stone contruction. Then again, if it was built with stone it wouldn’t have been the Shingle Style building it was which really stood the hotel out from the others of that era. Back then it was a huge gamble to create such grand structures primarily with wood. Fires were so much more common and harder to put out back in the those days then they are nowadays. Thanks for sharing this. 🙂

I live in Ohio and had never heard of Put-In-Bay until this post, so thanks OP. For anyone curious, it’s an island on Lake Erie between Toledo and Cleveland.

If you go camping in the state park on the island, the ruins of the swimming pool and several support pillars are still there.

Had my bachelor party there from my previous marriage. It is definitely the best party island on the Great Lakes!
