Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation(HSBC) Main Building – Ver.3 (1935-1984), Hongkong. Demolished and replaced by the current one designed by Norman Foster in 1985

  2. I used to build so many of that building next door in Sim City 2000(?) or 3000(?).

  4. I am always amused when I see the Standard Chartered building in the current iteration. They basically built a wall with a sign on it on top of the building to be slightly taller than the HSBC building.

  5. Did any of the buildings on the right survive? Is there any history left in Hong Kong?

  6. Norman Foster has done more to ruin architecture, than fires, floods, earthquakes combined.

  7. New building wins because it has a cannon on the roof pointed at another building.

  8. Man, I love Hong Kong in its present day form (though maybe not the shift in politics…) but there is a certain elegance to the older city (maybe because its so “empty” compared to today”.

  9. This part of Hong Kong, sadly like most of it, has been ruined.
