You have to go through five gates to get into the castle, fully exposed on the raised path. For the same reason there were no trees on the hill sides originally.

When I was there I just thought about how it must have felt being ordered to storm such a castle. It’s just hopeless.

Hey I live near there! From afar it looks quite impressive as well, my boyfriend drives past it to work everyday and it’s a nice sight to see everyday. Definitely recommend! If you’re up for it you can also hike up the little mountain it’s on to visit it instead of driving or taking the bus

Is it that time for our bi-weeky Hohenzollern post already?

    Was this castle ever attacked?
