Hochosterwitz Castle is considered to be one of Austria’s most impressive medieval castles. The path to the inner castle leads through 14 castle gates. The castle was impregnable as the enemy had to conquer gate by gate but was attacked from all sides at the same time.

   Might be inspiration for the Eyrie in GOT, where there were 3 waycastles going up the side of the mountain before getting to the inner castle. Although the mountain in GOT was much higher than this
