Beautiful photo. Despite being regarded as one of the greatest achievements of /r/ModernistArchitecture, this house is also known for having some design flaws.
Most of them are related with its structure: Fallingwater’s structural system includes a series of very bold reinforced concrete cantilevered balconies. Pronounced deflection of the concrete cantilevers was noticed as soon as formwork was removed at the construction stage (and the contractor had added reinforcement over Wright’s plan).
This deflection continued to increase over time, and eventually reached 7 inches (180 mm) over a 15 foot (4.6 m) span, and was only stopped in 2002, when the structure was repaired permanently using post-tensioning.

Although it’s regarded as a great work of modern architecture, I never found it that interesting. Take away the waterfall and it’s not that great. Add a waterfall to any building and it becomes way more attractive. I feel as though any architectural style designed around this location would have looked good.

My mom is a huge FLW fan, so growing up we went here almost annually. They have a minimum age for kids, but they also have what I remember being an AWESOME play area for kids whose parents were touring.
As you’d expect, A+ set of blocks for building the structures of your dreams.
By the time I was old enough to actually go on the tour I was sooo hyped to finally see the place. Thank God Frank is so good he didn’t disappoint
