I used to skateboard in high school, it was a lot of fun. Me and a few friends just cruising down the streets, occasionally finding some kind of low railing or embankment to try tricks on at like a local bank or bagel shop. It was mostly a fun way to challenge yourself physically to do creative things.
My one friend Mark was really good at doing tricks. One day he was trying to do a frontside kickflip over a railing at the end of this walkway thing. Basically he was clearing like a 4 foot high railing while he was rotating and his board was rotating and doing a kickflip with him.
Anyway, Mark was getting tired from trying it so we took a break to skate over to the Dunkin Donuts to get some coffee and donuts. It was late enough that when you order like one donut they just give you a bag of like six because they just need to get rid of their old shit.
We were sitting outside on the curb eating our donuts and Mark, looking out towards the sky just kinda says aloud "You ever think about killing yourself?"
I kinda slightly glanced over and I could tell he was deep in thought, this was some kind of cry for help he was doing. I took a moment to myself to think of the best thing to say to him. Finally I turned my head to him and said "Mark, you’re a fucking loser and your dad was right to cheat on your mom and leave you guys," and then I got up and skated away.
Mark ended up dying a few weeks later from something, idk I don’t hang with losers.
