    Now that’s a defensible castle. Maybe not the prettiest, but it definitely looks like it can withstand a siege/assault.

    I’m guessing the owners were Ghibellines due to the presence of swallowtail merlons (the pointed crenellations on the wall were usually a sign that they supported the HRE over the Pope).

    Very cool post OP, love how dense and concentric it is. Would love to visit if I ever get to that part of Italy.
