Abstract: Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church was founded as a Congregation on November 6, 1808. It has historically been referred to as the Cathedral of Presbyterianism due its direct and indirect socio-historical contributions, which include the founding of Princeton Theological Seminary, the American Bible Society, and Presbyterian Hospital. Its fourth and current edifice, consecrated in 1875, is Victorian Gothic in style and features a unique Sanctuary built as a structure within the structure. Carl Pfeiffer won a competitive bid to design the Church that included more high-profile figures like George B. Post.
