Devizes castle in Wiltshire England. Currently for sale for £2.75 M. Built around 1080. A number of kings and notables stayed in the castle, including King John, later Henry III and Edward I.
There are houses in my hometown that cost more, crazy.

Original 1080 wood castle burnt down in 1113 and was replaced with impressive stone castle in 1120. This castle was attacked by Cromwell’s heavy artillery forces and taken in 1645. Under Parliamentarian order, castle remains were dismantled to the foundation, with stones distributed for building other local structures.
>The present castellated Victorian era ‘castle’ is a mixture of Neo-Norman and Gothic Revival styles. It was begun about 1840 and was extended northwards in the1860s and succeeding decades.
The original 1080 defensive motte, or man-made hill, and the buried 1120 stone castle foundation became a scheduled monument in 1953 based on excavations at the site.
