This was an interesting case. In the 1890s, on top of (the former) Denny Hill was one of the largest hotels in Seattle. It was open initially for 3 years then closed for 10 after an economic depression. In 1903, it was opened again to lodge Teddy Roosevelt. By 1906, the complete destruction of Denny Hill was underway, and efforts by the hotel’s owner to extend it down a couple floors were unsuccessful. It was torn down that year.
