    It’s weird to imagine that one generation could have lived to see this bank go up and come down again. To see the country go from the restless industrialising country with visions of grandeur of the gilded age and progressive era, to the self assured nation rising dominant and proud, out of World War Two content to let go into the decentralised culture of suburbia.
