that’s a pretty cool building. why did they tear it down?

Being from the Northeast, the first time I visited southern cities I was blown away by how empty they are. When you are driving into Charlotte, for instance, you see the huge towers and think you are about to drive into a busting metropolis, then when you get in you realize they are spread blocks apart separated only by surface parking and chain restaurants.
Looking at this towers’ replacement reminds me of that.
