Coolidge Tavern, Watertown, MA: built 1740-42 by shipwright William Williams, frequented by Minutemen during the Revolutionary war. George Washington slept here in 1789 and dissed to his diary of “a very indifferent house.” Demolished in 1918 for development of Watertown Yard streetcar terminal.

Any idea where specifically this is? I’m having a hard time placing it relative to current streets (e.g. Galen, Nonantum)

Those 1918’ers! That’s that generation for you.

It’d be a safe bet to say one or more of my ancestors had been there also.

Is the terminal even still around?
