Man, that replacement church is so sad. Western Europe has lost a lot of faith and love for itself and its traditions. Architecture like this is a symptom of underlying problems with the culture. A healthy society builds architecture that expresses beauty, pride, and permanence.

Guys all art is subjective, just **open your mind** and let us penetrate it with bad ideas.

I have to say, the replacement Church is one of the least exciting buildings I think I’ve ever seen. Like, I don’t even know how to describe it. It’s just so…bland.
And not in a utilitarian, square storage unit building type of way. Like, someone actually designed this to replace the old church and it’s basically a square with a few angled parts attached to it.
Almost as if it were designed out of spite to be as boring as possible.

I once saw pictures of the work of a sculptor who was diagnosed with schizophrenia in the 1930s or 1940s and they performed a lobotomy on him. The work he did before and after were more or less like these two churches.

The [church](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Church_of_St._Lambertus,_Immerath) was consecrated on 9 July, 1891. St.Lambertus survived WWII, but its eventual fate was because of a mining company. The mining company ([RWE](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RWE)) had planned an extension of the [garzweiler surface mine](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garzweiler_surface_mine), which the village of [Immerath](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immerath_(Erkelenz)) was completely demolished alongside with the church. The company had promised to make a smaller replacement for the church, which ended up being complete monstrosity, a disgrace for the inhuman company that only cares about gathering resources to provide for their materialistic lifestyle.
