I definitely want to see a series set in this castle.

It’s on my list of places I’d like to see in person, but I haven’t made it yet. While Viollet-le-Duc was the one to restore it, I think that it doesn’t really match up to his work on Notre Dame or Carcassonne, as I suspect that he leaned a bit too hard into the palace side of things. It’s fuel for the debate about restoration versus preservation.

I visited this summer and it was my favorite of all the castles I saw. It’s just so imposing and grand.
