I know England had a period of "De-crenelization" where if nobles wanted to keep their castles, they had to reduce the fortifications: remove crenels, fill in machilocations, and break up the walls. In many cases this was done forcefully, but not always.
Looking at this one, all those walls along the switch back and the couple of fore court areas look perfect to have crenels set up (to shoot people lower on the ramps), but they are smooth and look to have no battlements behind them. Were the fortifications here reduced as well or did this castle always have flat walls like we see here?

Crazy walk in-and-out of there, but beautiful place.

Anyone else look at this and realize this would be the ideal place to go in case of zombie apocalypse?
The pathway up is for the most part within the line of sight of the upper levels, there looks to be a decent amount of space for growing crops to feed a small number of people.
With proper maintenance, especially on that gatehouse halfway up the path, a handful of people with enough resources could hold out until the zombies die off.
