« The Royal Poinciana Hotel was a Gilded Age hotel in Palm Beach, Florida, United States. Enlarged twice and doubling in size each time, it became the largest wooden structure in the world, with 1,700 employees and accommodations for 2,000 guests. It closed and was razed during the Great Depression.

    I’m fairly sure I had a playset that was based on this castle as a kid. I mean, it was just a generic castle playset, but the way the towers and walls connect, the style of the windows and the roof are almost 1:1, as far as my memory serves. They might have taken liberties with the entrance as that doesn’t exactly match up. (Of course any self-respecting playset castle needs to have a huge portcullis) Unfortunately I don’t have a single picture of it and I doubt there is a picture of that particular set online.

    EDIT: My memory was way off and the internet has everything. The first thing that came up when I googled “90’s toy castle playset” is this exact thing (although the colors are different): https://friendlyghost.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834525fe869e2019b016fa152970b-pi
    I still think there is something a bit reminiscent in the sharp roofed tower, but otherwise the resemblance is minimal. Huge nostalgia trip though.
