I love nature as much as the next guy, but the Hudson needs more architecture like this back on the water.

I don’t understand how a structure this large could be built, used, and staffed for a single purpose that targets a niche group back then. If such a place was built today it would not be financially feasible.

Damn, as an active paddler in the NYC paddling community, this hits close to home! Yonkers Paddling and Rowing Club across the river has a pretty sweet historic boathouse–nowhere near this scale but I’d still call it the nicest, most historic boathouse in the area.
My club? We have a few shipping containers filled with boats on an overgrown lot along one of the most polluted waterways in the nation–and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
