Has someone explained to China that books are not ornaments? Occasionally some of us actually like to read them!

This looks fun and fanciful I guess, but I really hate fake decorative bookshelves that clearly have no utility. It seems like an increasingly common trend in big new libraries, and I’m not a fan.

I’ve been to that bookstore several times and ridden that escalator. The books are a combination of real and fake but obviously just for decoration at the higher levels.
