What a strange building. That photo alone just made me instantly think, “suicide”. It just looks so bleak and depressing, and I couldn’t imagine staying in one of those rooms without hurling myself from the balcony. That could be why the management screwed the doors shut.

As the inside of the hotel was gradually revealed, though, I felt a strange pang of nostalgia and longing. It reminded me of the old buildings that were in their twilight years when I was still just a gremlin. The old light-up buttons in the passenger lift, the curved beams of the dining room, and the little pond by the lobby staircase made me think of so many buildings in Hong Kong that just aren’t around any more. He’s right, it really is a time capsule.

And if nothing else in the hotel floats your boat, you can always make funny faces in the headboard mirror while you shag.
