Here’s the supposed replacement, a generic glass skyscraper, one of my least favorite types of buildings. It’s literally the most generic, soulless, hideous piece of shit imaginable which will further wreck the prosperity NYC’s already blighted skyline and historic fabric. What a fucking joke, they tear down this beauty and they have the audacity to replace it with this! Shame on everyone involved!

I remember when this happened and I’m still mad about it

Was it pulled down purely to build the monstrous replacement, or was it becoming unsafe or similar?

I remember reading about this when it happened. They tore down adjacent structures as well. Horrible.

I’m not excited for time where these ugly, bland buildings will be considered "classic". I mean the building made in 2015, not this one.
Of course it was. That’s all I’m seeing at this point. There was this row of brownstones across the street from me (UES, so they’re getting rarer and rarer), and they were torn down a year or two ago. The neighborhood is really starting to feel a lot less like a neighborhood.
