Grew up in suburbs outside Detroit, lived in downtown Detroit for college. Crazy to see the neighborhoods within the city spotted with GORGEOUS homes in what seems like a field, only to realize the “field” used all be homes just as beautiful.

The most depressing part of this picture is that its like a block away from the Garnett MARTA station. Trains come every 2.5 minutes at rush hour, but WhEre WiLl TheY aLL Park? Also most of those old factories could have easily been rehabbed into other uses after industry dried up. They’re literal brick houses that would have never fallen down and would be perfect for retail or lofts (See Ponce City Market, also in Atlanta, for proof). But instead they demolished so many buildings that the parking lots aren’t even used because there’s nothing in walking distance.
