Fun Fact!: One of my many great grandfather’s was the Earl of Arundel and lived in this castle. He was also in command of the English navy and beheaded for treason.
edit: but it’s worth pointing out that most of the current “castle” is really a Victorian mansion. It’s still gorgeous! and filled with priceless treasure (like Mary Queen of Scots gold rosary that she carried to her execution)! but the only thing left of the original castle is part of the keep.

This is right near my home town. The castle is beautiful, you can tour the inside as well as the gardens, which are equally lovely. They hold medieval theme days, and in summer you can watch a Shakespeare play in the garden with a picnic. There’s also a lake just next door, Swanbourne lake, which is very nice to walk around. The town of Arundel itself is also very beautiful, a lot of it in fitting with the castle type architecture, lots of cute little shops and tea rooms. I would very much recommend a visit, preferably on a sunny day!

The weapons collection there is nice. I recall a famous two handed sword with a mean name (something like Grendel) as well as as a chinese executioner’s sword.

Edit: Specifically, he was the Admiral of the English Navy. [Here is a Wikipedia article about him](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_FitzAlan,_11th_Earl_of_Arundel)
