Apartment buildings on Gothenburg’s main boulevard Avenyn (literally The Avenue). The street was gradually converted from only having apartments to housing all sorts of boutiques and hotels, even department stores. These buildings were demolished in 1958.
This is what replaced it. The most bizarre thing is that they thought the two buildings took the neighboring Valand Palace (red brick building to the right) into uttermost consideration.
The building to the right got refurbished a few years ago and now has a copper-colored facade. It is supposed to shine like gold in the sun but since the sun never shines in Gothenburg it mostly has this copper color.
