    The texture of the photo makes everything look crocheted

    It’s still there, but needs restoration work. I went to Google Earth and actually found a photo taken from the street, but closer than in the 1960s vantage point: look for the “Historic Marjan Mosque” on Al Rasheed Street, then click the link for the mosque and the building is one of the linked pictures.
