I remember seeing either a movie or an actual documentary about New York, and there was a skyscraper with a Greek temple on the top, it must have been a movie, but it looked a lot like this picture.
looks like something out of another world. what’s the name of that tallest building? looks almost steam punk.

Those buildings were the Singer Building (tallest), the City Municipal building (with the pitched roof), and the Hudson Terminal building (large building to the right). They ran down Radio Row. A lot of this became the World Trade Center site.

Amazing to think of all the drama that went down in those buildings. People worked, faught, laughed, cried and napped or slept in those rooms. There were no doubt scandalous affairs and all nighters at the office. People worked through hangovers, looked forward to weekends, and a few might have even taken their last breath in one of those rooms. That’s the reality of the human experience. So many people’s lives unfolded between all those walls. Day in, day out…for years. And now all of the people and those buildings are gone.

The tallest building is the tallest building that was ever demolished on purpose.

I had no idea! Thanks for sharing. Did ALL of these get the axe? they seem to cover significantly more area than the tower which replaced them. I’m not familiar with the area, so I’m probably missing something.
